How to Set Up a Discord Server (Complete Guide)

Whether you're building a gaming community, study group, or brand server, the setup matters more than most people think. A well-structured server converts visitors into active members. Here's how to build one from scratch.

1. Create Your Server

Open Discord, click the "+" button in the server list, and choose "Create My Own." Pick a name that's clear and memorable — avoid special characters that make it hard to search for.

2. Set Up Categories and Channels

Less is more when starting out. Empty channels kill engagement. Start with these essentials:
